Colored Wigs Are Harder to Make Than They Look
A wig in natural black is just... hair. The moment you add color, you're dealing with the cuticle. To get a color that doesn't fade after two washes, the cuticle has to be removed or sealed — that's what "virgin hair" means in the coloring process, and it's why colored hair costs more to make than natural hair.
Our colored units are made from real human hair that has been properly processed. The color you receive is the color you keep, wash after wash, for the life of the wig. It's not a surface coat that rubs off.
Colors We Make
- 99J burgundy — deep wine with a red undertone. Our best-selling color by a wide margin, and it photographs beautifully on a range of skin tones.
- Natural black — 1B, our deepest standard shade.
- Highlighted / ombré browns — a natural highlighted tone with dimension, designed to look like real salon work rather than a flat dye job.
- Colored straight and colored deep wave — the same colors in different textures, so you can match the color to the style you want.
A Note on Color Matching
Screen colors vary, and wig color shifts depending on the lighting and the tone of your own hair underneath. Two honest tips from the workshop:
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Our colored wigs are made with properly processed human hair where the cuticle has been sealed, so the color stays put. Cheaply dyed wigs lose tone within a few washes — that's the main quality difference between them and ours.
Yes, since it's real human hair, but we'd recommend going to a salon. Bleaching an already-processed wig is hard on the hair. If you want a different shade, choosing the right one up front is cheaper and safer.
99J is a deep wine, so it works well on medium to deep skin tones and on anyone who wants a rich, dark red rather than a bright red. If you want something lighter, our highlighted browns are a safer middle ground.
Some are. Our colored 13x4 lace fronts can be worn glueless — skip the adhesive. If you want a completely no-lace option in color, contact us about custom orders.
